There are 20 baby teeth and all of them will fall out eventually!
Most children start losing teeth around 5-6 years old and the whole process of changing teeth goes on until 12 years old. Many of the teeth fall out from age 9 to 12. All children will lose their teeth at a slightly different age.
The baby teeth will only come loose if there is an adult tooth coming through. The adult tooth may not appear for weeks after the baby tooth is lost.
It is generally unnecessary to intervene in removing the tooth. The tooth will usually fall out when they are eating or the child is wiggling it themselves.
Some parents worry about their child swallowing the tooth. It is quite a rarity and even so, the tooth will just pass though their digestive system.
If you take your child to see the dentist regularly, the dentist will make sure that the development is proceeding normally, as part of the check up. If you think your child is late in losing teeth, consult your dentist and they will be able to advise you on any treatment, if required.
