Check Up and Cleans | QC Dental

Maintain your mouth for the rest of your life!

What is preventative dentistry?

It's the practice of caring for your teeth to keep them healthy and strong. This helps to avoid problems such as cavities, gum disease, enamel breakdown, and other issues that can arise with weakened teeth. Regular brushing, flossing and dental visits are all forms of preventative dentistry.

A check up and clean is actually more pleasant if you have it done regularly!

What is involved in routine checkups?

1) Check-up: The dentist usually checks for any problems with your teeth, followed by the gums and the rest of the mouth. X-rays are usually required to detect many problems that are not visible to the naked eye.

2) Scale & polish: Plaque or tartar build-up needs to be removed so the dentist uses special instruments to painlessly knock loose any larger pieces of tartar and get into hard to reach places. They finish off with a polish to leave you with that amazing "I've just been to the dentist" feeling.

How much does it cost?

At QC Dental, we really want to encourage people to keep their mouth in good condition. So, we don't charge gap for the routine check up and cleans. If you don't have health insurance, it is $197 and all x-rays are at no cost.

How often should I go to the Dentist?

Generally, it's good to go every 6 months. Problems will be detected earlier and the treatment will be cheaper and simpler.

What can I do to protect my teeth and gums at home?

Flossing regularly and brushing your teeth twice a day is essential. If you want to go further, cut down on sugary foods and soft drinks which will cause tooth decay. Chewing sugar free gum is beneficial after eating.

Are there any special oral care products that I should use?

For most people, toothbrushing and floss is all that is required. If you require more specialised products, your dentist will advise you.
